American citizens take our power structure for granted. The assume that the transfer of power in America will be smooth, and that democracy in the U.S. is a “given.” Somehow Americans know that corruption is possible; and some Americans even realize that in other parts of the world, corruption is rife and a daily part of life. Yet somehow these types believe that America’s greatness has allowed it to “skip over” corruption and that it’s been minimized or even eliminated. Not so much. Americans need to get a clue that corruption in America reaches to the highest levels. The video and book links on this page are meant to illustrate this point.
This book and this video show just how close America came to being “taken over” during the 1930’s. Who says something like this couldn’t happen again? During the Presidential election of 2000, something sinister happened the threatened the core of our democracy.
“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt
