The Medal of Honor
On June 28, 2015, Soledad O’Brien reports on a special group for whom America’s highest honor has remained elusive: the Medal of Honor. Because of blatant discrimination against minorities during the Vietnam War, many deserving soldiers, sailors and Marines were denied their rightful medals. The US Government since has sought to redress these injustices and recently President Obama has award these brave soldiers for their valor.
“Today we have the chance to set the record straight,” Obama said. “No nation is perfect, but here in America we confront our imperfections and face a sometimes painful past, including the truth that some of these soldiers fought and died for a country that did not always see them as equal.”
